About Our Oak River Desks

Our beautiful bespoke earthy oak river desks are designed and handcrafted to any shape or size by our timber experts from our timber yard and workshop in Plumpton Green, Sussex. With over 25 years of working within the timber industry, we know what it takes to make a unique long lasting piece of oak furniture that creates a truly elegant feel, all on an affordable budget.

Each stunning oak river desk is crafted using our beautiful full stave, wide stave oak slabs that we source from sustainable forests and woodlands across the UK, we then transport it to our Sussex based workshop and vacuum kiln dry the planks onsite to ensure stability and protection against warping and distortion. We adore the natural imperfections of our oak slabs, such as the knots, cracks and striations. We hand pick each slab considering its intended purpose and environment and look for these natural imperfections. We then infuse these imperfections with epoxy resin to create beautiful glassy details. To create the unique and iconic river effect, we use two live edged planks set apart, and centrally infuse them with epoxy resin.

Our oak river desks are available with a variety of different edging styles. For a more rural and rustic approach, we can offer our waney or live edging, or for a more modern and contemporary approach, we can offer our straight or square edging. Alternatively, we can offer our mixed edging for a combination of both edging styles.

We highly recommend that our customers use our own table legs, this is because unlike many on the market, our table legs are hand-calibrated to sustain the approximate weight and size of your earthy oak river desk. Our table legs are available in a variety of different shapes such as trapezium, T shaped, U shaped and II shaped. They are also available in a variety of different materials such as aged steel, brushed steel, stainless steel and matching wood.

We provide two main finishing options for you to choose from. Either a clear lacquer which acts as a thick shield against damage and corrosion, or a colour enhancing oil which penetrates the timber to create several layers of protection throughout. Our unique earthy oak river desks are suitable for all types of environments whether it be a modern and contemporary office space or a rural and rustic home in the countryside, requiring very little maintenance.

We can also craft our bespoke oak river desks alongside any of our other solid oak furniture such as our shelving, windowsills, seats, tables and kitchen furniture. We can make a unique bespoke set of matching furniture for your home or business when multiples of our furniture are bought together.

We expect each unique oak river desk to take around one month to craft. This is because our processes are completely unique and unlike no other.
