We craft our stunning oak river kitchen islands from beautiful earthy full stave, wide stave slabs that we exclusively source from sustainable woodlands and forests across the UK, we then transport the timber and vacuum kiln dry them onsite to ensure longevity and protection against disfigurement an distortion. We hand pick each individual slab for its unique natural characteristics such as the knots, cracks and striations. We then infuse these striations to create stunning glassy details throughout. To create the unique iconic river effect, we use two live edged slabs that we set apart and centrally infuse the middle with a layer of epoxy resin. Our bespoke oak river kitchen islands are available with any of our edging styles, from waney or live for a more rural and rustic appeal, to straight or square for a more modern and contemporary approach. We can also offer our mixed edging which combines elements of both edging styles. We offer two main finishing options, either a clear transparent lacquer which creates a thick shield over the surface against damage and corrosion, or a colour enhancing oil which penetrates the timber to create multiple layers of protection throughout.
